  • Fasting is a temporary renunciation of something that is in itself good, like food, in order to intensify our expression of need for something greater β€” namely, God and his work in our lives. β€”John Piper

Fasting is an act of work that helps believers to cultivate intimacy with God, humble the soul, gain wisdom, and align with God's will by acknowledging their dependence on Him.

  • Fasting is a way of expressing our desire for Jesus and feasting on his presence by renouncing food or other good things so we can hunger and thirst for more of Christ

  • Approach fasting with a mindset of intentionally pursuing the heart of Christ rather than trying to gain a specific answer or outcome.

  • You should expect to receive revelation, clarity, and insight from God as you become more sensitive to the Spirit. You may not get the answers you’re asking for, but you will receive what God has for you.

  • Pray, read the Bible, worship with Christian musicβ€” Feast on the Lord.

  • The resources on this page! If possible, abstain from secular media or anything that can distract you from your focusβ€” Jesus.

  • Yes, you can. Isaiah 58 talks about the kind of fast that the Lord does not approve of. If you say you are fasting but still feeding the flesh in other ways by walking in disobedience to the word of God, then that is not a fast that honors God. Fasting is not manipulation it is sanctification and surrender.

Pro Tip: Use the time of fasting to lean into obedience in areas God has been speaking to you

FAQs

1 Peter 2:2-9 | Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.

  • And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not [a]prevail against it.

  • β€œBut why do you call Me β€˜Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say? Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was [a]founded on the rock. But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it [b]fell. And the ruin of that house was great.”

  • 20 But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; 21 yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles.

SCRIPTURES FOR STUDY & MEDITATION

Immerse yourself in faith-filled scriptures

  • Now faith is the [a]substance of things hoped for, the [b]evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony….

  • 25 But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in itβ€”not forgetting what they have heard, but doing itβ€”they will be blessed in what they do.

  • and drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ.

  • As you come to him, the living Stoneβ€”rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to himβ€” you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house[a] to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. For in Scripture it says:

    β€œSee, I lay a stone in Zion,
        a chosen and precious cornerstone,
and the one who trusts in him
will never be put to shame.”[b]

Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe,

    β€œThe stone the builders rejected
        has become the cornerstone,”[c]

    and,

β€œA stone that causes people to stumble
and a rock that makes them fall.”[d]

They stumble because they disobey the messageβ€”which is also what they were destined for.

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

  • 17 Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them: β€œAny kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and a house divided against itself will fall.

  • This is the one who came by water and bloodβ€”Jesus Christ. He did not come by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. For there are three that testify: the[a] Spirit, the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement. We accept human testimony, but God’s testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God, which he has given about his Son. 10 Whoever believes in the Son of God accepts this testimony. Whoever does not believe God has made him out to be a liar, because they have not believed the testimony God has given about his Son. 11 And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.

  • Turn your ear to me,
        come quickly to my rescue;
    be my rock of refuge,
a strong fortress to save me.
Since you are my rock and my fortress,
for the sake of your name lead and guide me.

  • They go from strength to strength,
till each appears before God in Zion.
